What programs do the artists use to paint the cars?

Each artist uses a different program. For 2 dimensional cars, you can use MS Paint, but you have very few advanced options and color choices. I recommend using a program like Adobe Illustrator, or Jasc PaintShopPro. The freeware graphics program GIMP is also very good. For more advanced 3 dimensional cars a more advanced program is required. Most here use Autodesk's 3D Max program.

Where can I get the templates?

Right here (or with the sidebar on the main page)!
Two dimensional - 2002 Lola. 2000 Reynard. Lola and Reynard (zip) 2005 Swift 0.14a. 2006 Swift 0.16a. 2007 Panoz DP01 (early version). 2007 Panoz (early version) (zip). 2007 Panoz DP01 (wind tunnel version).
Three dimensional - The three dimensional Lola, Swift 0.14a, and Reynard models are from the free Champ Car Challenge video game, developed for the PC by iDT. You must download and install the game and then extract the model file. The three-dimensional Panoz DP01 and Swift 0.16a are not available publically at this time, if you're interested in obtaining them please use the Contact Us link at the top of the page.

How do you get the three dimensional cars to look so realistic?

It's a combination of several factors. While artistic skill plays a major role, rendering software is what makes the biggest difference. For Autodesk's 3D Max program we recommend the Brazil Render plug-in.

Can I get your liveries for use in my Champ Car Challenge game?

No, sorry! But that just gives you another incentive to try it for yourself!

Where can I get logos?

High-quality logos can be hard to find. If you can't find the logos from the company's website, try Brands of the World. An .eps graphics file gives you the most flexibility when affixing the logos to the car.

What is the difference between the Panoz, the Lola, and the Reynard? And why does the Swift look totally different?

Champ Car has used a variety of chassis designs and manufacturers over the years. The late 1990s were dominated by the Reynard chassis, and the 2000s have been dominated by Lola. In 2007 the Panoz DP01 will become the official car of the series. The Swift 0.14a is the car that dominated the Champ Car Atlantics ladder series for the 2000s until 2006, when the new Swift 0.16a became the series' official car.

How do I submit my car to the site? Is it good enough?

You can submit the car one of two ways. If you're a member of the Champ Car Fanatics website (more on that below), you can post it in the liveries thread in the main forum and then PM me (TheMapman) that you want to be a part of the site. The other way is to use the Contact Us link and email a maximum 800 pixel width version of the car(s). I prefer the first method. As for if it is good enough, I don't really have a standard, and I'm yet to exclude anyone!

I am a car owner, driver, or sponsor and I want to have a livery for a presentation. How can I get in contact with the artists? What if I don't want this to be public?

We've done public contests for livery designs, as well as private work for teams, sponsors, and drivers. To get in contact with the artists, you can use the Contact Us link at the top of the page, or select an email address for the artist you want from the Artists page, if available. The artists are free to negotiate terms of any deal on their own. Our public design contests include Nexpak, the San Jose Grand Prix show car, and ideas for Nelson Phillipe's 2005 Wellbox paint scheme. We've done private work as well, but that is, after all, private.

Do you take requests?

Not formally. If you're a CCF member you can make a request in the livery thread and someone might run with it.

What is Champ Car Fanatics?

Champ Car Fanatics is the ultimate Champ Car fansite, and the owner of the server that this site runs on. Almost all of our artists are members. While it is not required, we do ask that you respect the ideas and beliefs of the Champ Car Fanatics as long as you're an artist here.

Why do some cars have orange names and others don't?

Cars with orange names are number/driver/sponsor combinations that have actually competed in the Champ Car World Series or Champ Car Atlantic Championship.

I have a Champ Car site of my own. Can I do a link exchange with FantasyLiveries.com?

Contact Us and we'll talk.

Why don't you have any IRL cars on here?

If you even have to ask, you're probably at the wrong place. Plus they already copied us. Imitation, always the trademark of the IRL!

This site is not affiliated with the Champ Car World Series.
All car designs are original works of their artist, and should not be used without the expressed consent of the artist.
